Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan (ESCP) for RAPID at Pengerang, Johor
The RAPID project is geographically surrounded by agricultural and resident areas. As a nation megaproject, the soil erosion and sedimentation impact on the environment are concerned and very crucial. VETSB was appointed to verify ESCP design for the main Package 2 and Package 32, which were unable to solve by the previous consultant. After Project completion, VETSB was assigned to design a full relevant individual ESCP for another 5 packages (Package 6A, Package 7, Package 11, Package 12A and Package 27). This Projects are complex and located in the congested area. It became the first line of defence in controlling the soil loss to ensure it will not affect the main ESCP design. It became best practical and budgetary solution for the implementation of this Projects to meet the requirement of RAPID PMC.

Located at the upstream of Sungai Karangan, the recovery facility intended to collect several scheduled waste codes from various sources. Although the area has been developed, there are still several residential and agricultural land situated within the site vicinity. The facility also produced high volume of wastewater that needed to be treated. Considering a Standard A area, VETSB successfully proposed the best pollution control engineering and procedure to obtain zero discharge of the effluent.
